How Eventcontrol Screens works
From an empty canvas to a wall of scheduled panels.
1. Upload your media
Drop images and video clips into the media library once. Every screen can then reuse them — drag an asset straight onto a canvas, or pick it from a widget's settings.
2. Design a screen
Start from a template — landscape or portrait — and lay widgets out on a fixed canvas (1920 × 1080, 1080 × 1920, 4K, totem). What you place is exactly what shows: the viewer scales the whole design to the panel instead of reflowing it. Drag to snap against other widgets, resize from any edge, double-click text to type in place, ⌘Z to undo.
3. Make it look like something
Pick a background from the visual picker — aurora, spotlight, beams, meteors, shooting stars, sparkles, or a quiet grid — and set its colours, speed and intensity. Give any widget a surface (transparent, glass, card, outline, glow border) and any text an effect (fade in, typewriter, gradient, shimmer). Every effect stops itself when the screen isn't being looked at, and goes still for viewers who ask for reduced motion.
4. Drop in a ready block
Blocks insert several pre-styled widgets at once — a big clock, two timezones, a doors countdown, a weather card, a hero headline, or an arrival greeting. They are positioned in fractions of the canvas, so the same block lands correctly on a landscape or a portrait screen.
5. Greet people as they arrive
Add a Greeting widget, create a channel, and copy its URL into your door or check-in system. A GET or POST with a name greets that person by name; a burst of arrivals queues so each one gets its full moment on screen, then the display returns to its idle text.
6. Let the model do the typing
Add your own OpenRouter key in Settings and the editor can write for you: three options for any single line, all the copy on a screen from one brief, or a whole screen — layout, background and words — from a description. It can also generate imagery or search stock photos straight into your media library. Nothing is applied without you choosing it, and everything stays editable afterwards.
7. Build a playlist
Group screens into a loop and give each one a dwell time — or set 0 seconds to hold it for as long as its video clip runs. Crossfades between items, and the next screen is loaded before the cut so nothing pops in cold.
8. Point a display at it
A display is a stable /d/CODE link a monitor sits on. Give it a single screen, a playlist, or a schedule of time-of-day rules — weekdays, date ranges, overnight windows — with a default for the gaps. The next 24 hours are drawn out so you can see the rules are right before they run.
9. Manage the panels
Open displays report in every 30 seconds, so you can see which are online, at what resolution, and what each is showing right now in a live preview. Reload or flash-identify a panel remotely, rotate the output for a sideways-mounted screen, and group displays by location.
10. Switch it live
Bind any screen or playlist to a Stream Deck button — the webhook URL flips the display instantly, and open panels swap without a reload.
